RED RED ROSE ARRIVES IN LOUISVILLE LOUISVILLESpee3yrWKitney Spee3yrWKitney Tilly Recovers fronf Illness CoiS tracted at Hot Springs Rarar Dies of Fever LOUISVILLE Ky May 1 Red Red Rose Mrs Payne Whitneys chestnut filly by Whisk Broom II Cardamine arrived at the Downs yester day and is now safely quartered in the stable of Mose Goldblatt who has charge of the western division of the Whitney stable The filly had been on the ailing list at Hot Springs for the past few weeks but ha now fully recovered and will be pointed for her stake engagements at the Downs Red Red Rose Is probably one of the best twoyearolds that has been to the post this year in the west and much is expected of her perform ¬ ances on the Kentucky tracks Mr Goldblatt ran over from Lexington to see to the housing of the Whitney star also to make arrangements to receive the Whitney Derby candidates and other horses that trainer Jimmy Rowe will bring here tomorrow While in the city Mr Goldblatt disposed of his highcjasp twoyearold Splendor for a reported fancy price This colt has shown fast trials and is highly regarded John Ferriss whose stable of fourteen head ar ¬ rived at the Downs from Hot Springs on Sunday was informed yesterday of the death of Rarar liis promising twoyearbld which died of fever at the southern course Rarar cost Mr Ferriss in the neighborhood of 4000 He was bred by A B Spieckels at his Napan Ranch in California and had won several races The stable also lost Monarch and one other horse from a fever contracted dur ¬ ing tlie winter months monthsThe The stable of Edward Cebriau wellknown Cali ¬ fornia turfman with six twoyearbids including Clear the Way and Modiste in charge of Al Farrell arrived at the Downs yesterday from Hot Springs The horses are in fine condition and will be ready for the opening of the local meeting American Ace the stables Derby candidate is at present racing in Lexington and will be returned here early next week weekThe The division of the J W Schorr stable which has been quartered at Douglas Park has been trans ¬ ferred to the Downs Among the number is Jas T Clark tlie stables candidate for the rich Ken ¬ tucky Handicap Harry Kelly Butterscotch IL and Lukes Pet The horses are training well and vvill be started during the meeting in this city cityA A sloppy track put a damper on training opera ¬ tions at the Downs yesterday morning and no fast moves were recorded Tom Ahearn had out Geo Longs Plumcot which turned a half in 55 and Ulster Queen did threequarters in 122 Several othQr stables had jtheir horges out for slow gallops
