CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF Wm. Garth may divide his stable at the conclusion of the Saratoga meeting, sending part of his string to Belmont Park and part to Maryland. His son Lewis will take the W. T. Wilkinson horses to Belmont Park. The Larry Waterbury stable will race at the Belmont Park and Aqueduct meetings. The stable will then be shipped to Laurel, where the horses have been extensively entered in the stakes to be run at that meeting. There is a story going the rounds at Saratoga that S. C. Hildreth will-send Billy.,Myer down to New Jersey to look over the Rnncocas Farm with a view of purchasing this famous old breeding establishment. Be Frank, winner of the Latonia Derby and the star racer in the C. M. Garrison stable, has been named in all of the important fixtures at the Maryland fall meetings. Trainer William Jennings went slow witli this good three-year-old up at Saratoga, the colt looking better probably than at -any time this year. The stable is another that will join the Maryland division at the opening at Havre de Grace. The death of the great racer and sire "Celt" a few days ago on Mr. Arthur B. Hancocks Ellerslie Farm, Virginia, was a great loss to the turf, and to Mr. Hancock in particular, as it is almost impossible to replace such a successful sire with the blood lines of "Celt." Judging from the recent yearling sales held at Saratoga, where "Celt" yearlings brought an average of more than 1919.sh,000, the value of this horse was nearly 00,000. Mr. Hancock carried a policy of insurance for a large amount with the Hartfords through the general agency of John A. Payne, Cincinnati, Ohio. Adv.
