INTERESTING RACING AT FAIR MEETING Beehive Scores in Event for Middleweight Jumpers Seagram Castoff Wins on Flat. TORONTO, Ont., August 22. The Cobourg Horse Show opened yesterday with a big attendance of society people from Toronto, Montreal and the States. Thoroughbred races played a prominent part, particularly in the jumping events. Of the nine contestants in the event for middleweight hunters, over eight jumps, Beehive, with a perfect performance to his credit, was awarded the decision over Itidgefield, which also jumped in faultless style. Although Beehives brilliant performance on the Canadian turf, including his Kings Plato victory, were in the colors of his owner and breeder, Harry Giddings of Oakyille, he is now a member of the Sunnybrook Farm Stable, owned by Joseph Kilgour of Toronto. Beehive was skillfully ridden by former jockey Wilson, who, during his turf career, piloted Buskin and other good horses for J. Whalcn. Representatives from the .Ennisclare Farm of H. C. Cox, of Toronto, monopolized honors in one open jumping class over eight fences. Ridgcfield, Shot, Rempstone and Glenurchy were placed in this order, the quartet jumping in brilliant fashion under excellent handling. This event attracted twenty-five entries, the majority of which were thoroughbreds that have raced with , much credit on the tracks of Canada. Mrs. L. A. Livingstons Kingship, Ondre-mon, Cannie, Jean Hnlflaw, Powderman and the steeplechaser Indian Arrow were among those unplaced. The half mile running race on the turf was productive of a keen struggle. Although Gold Galore, a Seagram castoff, showed the way throughout, she was doing her best at the end to outstay Dandy, with Jim O. closest in attendance. The latter raced well up with the. leaders in the early stages, but weakened slightly near the end. George W. Beard-mores Red Admiral was unable to improve fourth position.
