HORSES IN TRAINING AT LEXINGTON Kirbys String of Fifteen Arrives from Latonia Some High-Bred Yearlings in the Band. LEXINGTON, Ky., August 22. A. L. Kirby, in good health and spirits, has arrived here from Latonia with fifteen horses, three of them yearlings, and two race riders and is in comfortable quarters at the Kentucky Jockey Clubs annex. There are four two-year-olds in the Kirby string and one of these. Talisman, has the distinction of being the only horse that yet lias defeated Miss Jemima in Kentucky. That happened in" the Debutante Stakes and Talisman netted ,000 and a trophy for doing it. The other two-year-olds are Sweet Emma, Blue Jeans and Beau Brummel. At the head of the older division there is the popular favorite, Blackie Daw, and then comes J. Rufus, Rifle Shooter, AVar Garden, Manicurist, Sol Gilsey, Edith L. and Jack-straw. The most highly regarded of the yearlings is the bay colt by Jim Gaffney Mary Day- dam of .Violet Bonnie and Blackie Daw. Another bay colt is by The Manager Miss Declare sister to Fruit Cake, and the third yearling is the bay colt by Uncle- .Serpentaria dam of War Garden and Beau Brummel, by Dick Welles. Daniel Stewart, a capable, modest and generally well-liked horseman, is giving first lessons, to a promising yearling at the Kentucky Jockey Club track. It is a chestnut colt by Uncle Natalie D., by Ben Strome. He is a horse of the durable sort and he may develop into a topnotcher. Stewart has another chestnut colt, by Magneto Sister Sigsbee, but he does not compare with the Uncle colt. Stewart also is training Jack Pryor and Magnet Laud.
