: : : SPANISH PRINCE II. A REAL RACE HORSE Was a Great Sprinter and Winner of Many Stako Races in English Racing. The horse Spanish Prince II., which John E. Madden snapped up at a bargain price at the Mackay sala in Saratoga, was a distinguished race horse in Englnd, but his speed was so great that he was used mainly for sprinting, at which ho was a star. As a two-yehr-6id he won four races, the principal being the Bradgate Park Nursery at Don-caster. When a three-year-old he won the Berkshire Three-Year-Old Handicap at Newbury; Kings Stand Stakes at Windsor and the Drayton Handicap at Goodwood. The next year he was victor in the valuable- Victoria Cup at Hurst Park, in which one of the beaten ones was our own celebrity. Whisk Broom II. Also the King George Stakes at Goodwood, in which ho defeated the fast horses Sunder and Mushroom. As a five-year-old. In 1912, his victories included the Epsom Plate at Epsom; Rous Memorial Stakes at Ascot; July Cup at Newmarket, and the Peveril of the. Peak Plate at Derby, in which Short Grass and Adam Bede were among those defeated. In 1913 he again won the Rous Memorial Stakes at Ascot; July Cup at Newmarket, in which he beat Hornets Beauty and Sir Martin, and also won for tiie second t me the Drayton Handicap at Goodwood. From all this it can be seen that his racing credentials are high-class. He is no experiment as a sire, already having winning progeny in England and in this country.
