The program at Havre de Grace this afternoon was made up to suit tlie cheaper grade of selling platers. The heavy condition of the track was responsible for the absence of the better class of horses. The feature race, the Trenton Purse, failed to fill. Small fields went to the post in a majority of the races and most of the winners had plenty in reserve at the finish. The exception was the. second lace, in which Pirate McGee. Puckhorn II. and Master Hill passed the judges almost on equal terms and it required the official placing to separate the trio. Pirate McGee, the winner, changed hands after his victory, G. W. Fornian boosting him from 1919.shO to ,200. Forman almost immediately disposed of his new purchase to Archil- Ziinmcr. liuck-horn II. was claimed by J. T. Strite for 2,000 and Fanny Cook by J. Clausen for 1.700. Itoseoe Troxlers well-known ability in handling two-year-olds was- in a great measure responsible for the victory of the first-time starter. Hoboy Baker, from the stable of W. J. Salmon in the owning dasii. Ilobey Haker seemed to fancy the heavy going and easily raced away from the J. W. McClelland representative Hurry. Crown of Gold, another first-time starter, carrying the colors of the deceased Canadian turfman J. E. Seagram, finished tliircl. .m r. " StZ or Taiu7rrrs:Ivhno accounted for the third race, but would have had sterner opposition if P.ittie I.luff had a stronger rider in the saddle. The Schorr filly raced well and forged to the frgnt in the stretch, but Sharne was of little use when the pinch came. Bettie Bluff was claimed by her owner. J. F. Schorr, for ,250. Pathilde and Sande formed the winning combination in the fourth race, the favorite, Miss Filley, running poorly. A longshot in the marc Zinnia was returned an easy winner of the fifth, the favorite, Joan of Arc, finishing in third place. Ed Moore has a promising two-year-old filly hero named Escarpolette, by Fitz Herbert Balancorie, the dam of Melody., which brought 4,000 at the Mackay sale at Saratoga in August. She worked over the Pimlico track recently a mile in 1:44 with 115 .pounds up, which is said to be about as good a move as any maiden has shown over the hilltop track all summer. T. J. Elward and George McFarlane, well-known Canadian followers of the sport, were arrivals from Toronto. J. G. Wagnon claimed the plater Pilsen from D. S. Fountain after that horse won yesterday. J. W. Dayton purchased for It. T. Xickerson the racer War Zone of G. W. Forman. The latter secured tlie horse from W. J. Starr a couole of weeks ago. C. J. Casey -wired Joseph McLennan that liD was on way from New York with the J. II. Itosseter horses. Casey, is also bringing down what horses S. C. Hildreth will race at Havre de Grace. J. T. Kermath arrived with twelve horses, the, property of W. A. Prime. The Schwartz Pros. crack. Audacious, came down in the car that brought the Prime racers. Mickey Sheedy, recently discharged from the service, is here looking after some promising material for n campaign at one of the winter tracks.
