BELMONT PARK TRACK FAST AGAIN Jack Stuart Springs a Surprise in Defeating Eoyce Eools and Spur. XEW YOItK, X. Y., September 12. Evenlv matched horses brought about a good afternoons sport today at P.elmont Park, in which results were fairly normal. Several surprises resulted, however, the victory of - Jack Stuart in tlie Cedarhurst Handicap being the most notalle. The race was at a " mile and a sixteenth, and resulted in all four entries. Boyee Pool!?. Spur. Becount and Jack Stuart, going to the post. The latter was the extreme outsider in the oral quotations, although he was the medium of some support, and after closely following Boyee Pools, made a wide turn at the head of the stretch, but responding to punishment he challenged the latter in the final eighth and came gamely to win by the margin of a nose. J. E. Wideners Weary was another surprise when she won the first race in a fairly good field of two-year-olds. She ran true on the inner rail for the entire distance and finished two lengths in advance of her nearest opponent. J. II. McDonalds Pietor, which has been racing consistently of late, was easily best in the third race, he leading Koh-i-Xoor and Frederick the Great to the finish by two lengths. The latter was heavily supported at a short price and had no visible; mishaps, but was soundly beaten. A strong wind was blowing up the chute throughout the afternoon, which caused slow time to be made, although the track was again fast. A good field of sprinters faced the barrier in the fifth race over the straight course, witli Mail Hatter being a heavily backed favorite. Jock Scot, running to his best form, was the winner, closing up with a rush in the final eighth to win by four lengths from Elfin Queen, the early pacemaker. Mad Hatter was third. The Messrs. Schwartz stable, with Enfilade and Audacious, will leave for Liurcl about September 25. Old Bosebud has developed into such a grouchy old horse that he may soon be retired. His actions at the post have caused his trainer much trouble, and as a final resort it is more than probable Old Itosebud will be started out of hand, with a rope to make him behave. Witli the Hildreth, Kilmer and Commander Boss horses in Maryland the handicaps of the future herealouts may be at the mercy of the two Macom-ber horses War Cloud and Star Master and J. E. Wideners Naturalist, unless handicapiier Vosburgh can fathom the mystery of making bad horses beat good oliPH. The Duke and Duchess of Boxborough were the. guest of Mr. and Mrs. It. T. Wilson yesterday. Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt. Miss Grace Vanderbilt and Mrs. Xlcholas Longworth were also in the partv. Loftus has been engaged to ride Phizes in the Preders Futurity at Lexington on the last day of that meeting.
