EMPIRES FEATURE TO IRISH DREAM Easily Defeats Best Juveniles at the Yonkers Track Favorites Fare Badly. NEW YORK, N. Y., October 23. The Autumn Days Handicap, for two-yeur-olds, as the stellar attraction, and the overnight handicap at a mile and seventy yards, a long distance race at one and a quarter miles, and with three races filled to overflowing, made up a program which attracted a good attendance to the Empire City track today. Five of the best two-year-olds quartered at the course faced the starter in the Autumn Days Handicap, with Homely finding the most favor, with Pilgrim next in demand. It was no race, for Irish Dream sprinted into a long lend which lie maintained to the wire, winning In the easiest possible manner. The struggle behind the leader was stirring nearing the finish, in which Pilgrim outgamed St. Allan for second place by a short lead. Homely, the favorite, showed scant speed, running a dull race. Lonely proved the luckiest of the moderate band of two-year-olds facing the barrier in the first race. The Peterson filly, off well, escaped interference and passed the leader when ready, drawing clear easily at the end. Flibbertygibbet, the favorite, had a rough race, but for which he may have won, was clearly best and saved second place asily from Cock o the Roost, which tired after showing the most early speed. The second race was for horses to be ridden by maiden jockeys among the aspirants for future fame. L. Johnson proved the most skillful astride Mumbo Jumbo, the favorite, which he got off well and kept in motion to the finish, winning with ease. Tommywaac worked her way up by degrees and outstayed Sunrose in the final drive, the latter iveakening when the final test came. Favorite backers received a severe setback in the third race when Sycamoor, backed into hot favoritism, after flattering his supporters for three-quarters of the journey, quit completely. Bantry gradually worked his way up from a slow beginning, ..aught the leader and won witli speed to spare. Le Balafre, always in close contention, withstood he rush of Jack ODowd, which took the small end f the purse. Ormonda easily accounted for the fifth race and Tack Mount repeated his success of Tuesday by outstaying Grundy in the final .race. -Roger Clinton purchased Poilu from B. Davis, and R. L.
