BIG WINNINGS OVER AN IRISH HANDICAP Although the Irish Cesarewitch winner. Picture Saint, started at 20 to 1, his connections had a good win over him, and his owner, Colonel Croft, and others associated with Usshers stable, backed him down from 100 to 1. Some weeks ago Colonel Croft took ,000 to 0 about . the son of Picton. This was not the largest wager which Colonel Croft had. Mrs. Croft took a bet of 5,000 to 50, and the stable commission was 5,000 to 50. So pleased was Colonel Croft with the excellent race which W. Beasley rode on Picture Saint that he made the jockey a present of the stakes, the net value of which works out over ,500.
