THE AGE OF A BIG FLORIDA TARPON On April 30. ISitS, Mr. U. vom Hofii. the famous American fishing-tackle maker and angler, sent Goodlier of taie Fishing Gazette a tarpon scale mounted on a wood mount, with this iusi-riptiim: "Compliments of K. von Hole. Record Tarpon killed nt Captiva Pass, Florida, March -1. 1SSKS. Six feet and eleven inches in length; forty-five inch girth; weight, two hundred and ten pounds." At the time Mr. E. von Ilofe caught this great fish scale reading was almost u thing of the future. It lias. been examined recently anil the year rings show the fish was about thirty-five years old.
