CHRISTMAS HANDICAP TODAY Fine Field Entered in First Stake - of the Havana Meeting. "Kay Spence Furnishes Two of the Winners at Oriental Park Yesterday. IIAYANA, Cuba, December 24. Martin Nathan-Bon, racing secretary of the Cuba -American Jockey and Auto Club, lias provided a splendid card for tomorrows racing at Oriental Park, with the Christinas Handicap of ,500 added as the principal at- traction of a seven-nice program. This will be the first take race of the present meeting, and the pick of the best horses here are entered for it, with Senor A. II. Diazs Tracery colt, Orestes, and Bally the top weight, each being assigned 120 pounds. Besides the two mentioned such speedy racers as Buford, Diversion, Blue Wrack, Walnut Hall and others are also included among the likely starters, assuring a race well worth seeing. The management has made elaborate preparations I to entertain the banner crowd of the season, and the prospects are exceedingly bright that they will not be disappointed. Toduys racing was held over a much improved track, and Kay Spenee provided the winners of two of the afternoons contests with Walter Mack and Snsenta. The letters success was decidedly popular, as the filly was backed to the exclusion of the other contestants and won like her admirers expected her to do. She drew away into a big lead in. the stretch and was only cantering as the winning, line was crossed. T Murray rode botli. the Spence winners. The Kentucky-bred Wynnewood, carrying the colors of the Jnmaica stable and showing sudden improvement, won the initial dash of the afternoon. He was heavily backed and made good in decisive fashion, although the Spence representative Brer Fox might have made it interesting for him had lie iigt swerved out in the last sixteenth. Backed to exclusion of everything else in the .second race Major Fisk failed to merit the support accorded him and ran far below expectations. The crowd was not loft In doubt as to the ultimate winner for Hello Pnrdner raced into u big lead, rounding the far turn and increased his advantage as the race progressed, pulling up seven lengths in advance of Director James, his nearest opponent at the finish. WUliums Bros, furnished the winner of the third race in the mare Hasty Cora. The daughter of Hastings was in fine fettle and simply outran the others throughout. Duke, Ruff was an equal favorite with Hasty Cora, and while running well and forwardly from start to finish had no chance to overtake the flying leader. The fourth race was practically a repetition of the third. Walter Mack holding sway .throughout, with Blnnchita in game but unavailing pursuit. Jockey J. Mclntyre. the rider of .Wynnewood, indulged in rough riding near the head of the stretch, interfering with both Pomerene and Unwise Child. This infraction of the rules Hid not escape the vigilance of the stewards, who promptly sus-IHfiided the rider for five days. Jockey Jarrell lost his eight-pound allowance when he won with Exempted in the last race Tuesday . The Beverwyck Stables horses arrived Wednesday in charge of trainer Thomas OBrien. The horses will run in the name of J. J. Maher. Included in the string are I ma Frank, Old Koenig, Nolawn, Scrub 1-ady, All Aglow, Tornado, The Trump and a veariing named Royal Green. C. K. Brosius purchased Great Gull from the Kl Moro Stable. Starter Milton placed Naomi Walton on the schooling list. Kay Spence lost Sasenta when the filly was claimed by J. J. Hertz for 50 after her victory in I lie f if tit race. ,
