COSTLY PURCHASES FOR MR. SANFORD Trainer Thomas Welch was in attendance while the December sales were in progress at Newmarket am purchased three choicely-bred young brood mares at high prices, as well as three colt foals, all, it was stated, for Mr. John Sanford. Whether they are to come to this country or not remains to 1m seen, but probably not.
