CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF On the opening day of tl:a Hagerstown, Md., Fair meeting, jockey J. Connors rode three winners in succession. Jockey W. Iliinphy will do the riding for the jr. Seifert stable at the Mount Royal Park meeting. Ex-jockey Eddie Griffin is now a full-fledged trainer. He is handling the horses owned by J. II. Rhoe. The stable of D. Hammond with six head has arrived at Mount Royal Park. Jockey E. Barnes accompanied the stable. There is to be a Hungarian Derby in 1922, of which the value will be 140,000 kronen. It will be open to horses bred in all countries. The three-year-olds Hasten On and The Trout, in the stable of J. W. McClelland, will be schooled through the field and convened into steeplechasers. For rough riding at Maisor.r.euvre Tuesday, jockey E. Smithy was suspended indefinitely, which caused him to change his plans in going to Hagerstown, Md. An operation has been peformed on the Canadian bred Sadducee by Dr. Fowler at Toronto. Tho horse was touched in the wind and is v rapidly improving. Commander J. K. L. Ross good colt King Thrush is showing a return to the good form that he displayed in the early spring racing over the Now York trucks. It has been announced that General John J. Pershing will exhibit fifteen of his own horses at Marlboro next Tuesday, when the meeting at that place opens. Due to his indifferent handling of Presumption in the second race at Maisotneuvre Park Tuesday, jockey C. Thomas was suspended for the remainder of the meeting. It is rumored in Canada that Frank McGinty will succeed James Milton as starter on the Canadian tracks after the latter leaves for Maryland to fill his engagement at Havre de Grace.
