REGALOS SUPERIOR SPEED Enables Gallaher Filly to Score in Main Race at Windsor Madeline Lillian Easy Winner. WINDSOR, Ont., August 25. Regalo, the four-year-old daughter of Sweep Lady Strathmore, from the stable of J. C. Gallaher, ridden by jockey Arthur Collins, led home a small band of fillies and mares in the Leamington Purse at a mile, which featured the offering for the Windsor Jockey Club this afternoon. Behind Regalo came Fern Handley, Escarpolette, Accelerate and Golden Dawn in the order named. Fern Handley set the early pace, but began tiring on the turn into the homestretch, where Regalo moved up to take the lead and maintain it to the end without further serious challenge, although ridden out at the end. Escarpolette closed fast after running wide into the stretch and just missed getting up to beat Fern Handley for second place. The Butterfly Purse at five and a half furlongs brought together a shifty band of fillies and Madeline Lillian was returned an easy winner, with Pantalette and Jean Corey following closest at the finish. Polythia, the F. Dahuken two-year-old filly by Polymelian Cynthia Dwyer, which was thought to have a sterling chance in the Butterfly Purse because of her effort behind Baby Grand in the Belle Meade Plate, developed fever about noon and was scratched. Jockey T. Nolan was thrown from Hamilton A. at the start of the second race, but escaped with a shaking up. James Arthur returned from Saratoga last night and shipped fifteen head of horses here from the Spa. Included in the shipment are some yearlings and four campaigners belonging to J. S. Ward. Midway, Dodge, Gloria France and Gossip Avenua make up the quartette. Without exception the Canadian horsemen who have been racing their strings over this circuit this summer will ship to Ottawa. This display of loyalty to the Canadian tracks is prompted.by a desire. tt,maker n!ifitvTn1rtliIKinTini8hv6 "c one promiiiJiit Canadian owner expresses.it, Ottawa deserves a full display of the best home breds in training.
