Clarks Sway again figured in :i winning performance this afternoon, when lie scored in the mile purse of ,000 lifter a hard race to defeat Ginger and finally managed, to pet tip iu the final strides to land a neck in advance. His victory was in doubt until in the last seventy yards, where lie overhauled Ginger, which had been the leader from the start. Sways success might have been accomplished in easier style but for being subjected to some interference as a result of Clintonville, guided by C. Buel, coming across from an outer position on the first turn, liuol was suspended for five days by the stewards for it. Ginger showed fine speed in the race and the early fast pace he maintained resulted in the race being run in the good time of 1:37. an excellent performance considering the cold weather and wind that prevailed. Minto II. at one point in the race made a threatening move, but the stretch drive found him giving way. Still he was good enough to land in third place. Bad riding was responsible for the downfall of some of the choices, F.. Wilson being an offender in this respect on Ma-zola, which, under a good ride, would have reversed the finish with Arrow Point, the victress in the race. "W. Perkins furnished a pair of the beaten choices of the afternoon in his Pullux and Xonskid. respective starters in the first and second races. Neither succeeded in landing a portion of the purse. The change in riders from Garner to Heiuisch worked a vast improvement in the running of Han-goon, for the Camden colt showed fine speed and led for the entire way to win easily from Coyne unit Bmnswick. A field of good youngsters started in the race, which was over the three-quarters of a mile distance, the first race at this route here this season, and the winner indicated that he can stay a longer distance. The victory of Golden Dawn iu the final race was a severe jolt to the backers, as they centered on Aph and Louis A. to the exclusion of the others. Bourbon Green, claimed out of the last race yesterday by .T. T. Strite, came out of the race in a bad Way. William Woodward, who is in charge of the thoroughbreds to contest in the 300-mile endurance test, telegraphed here this afternoon to E. R. Bradley that the horses which will start arc all iu excellent fettle and awaiting the word to start at Fort Allen. The race will be started next Monday. J. M. Hukil and .1. L. Paul each contemplate sriMling ten racers to Havana for the meeting there. Jockeys Van Dusen and B. Kennedy will accompany the consignments. J. L. Rhinock wns among the visitors from New York.
