ROUTINE DAY AT LOUISVILLE Day Given Over to Platers in the Main, With Nothing Especially Appealing. BY J. L. DEMPSEY. LOUISVILLE, Ky., November 8. An" ordinary racing card was offered patrons of the Churchill Downs course this afternoon and, coupled witli threatening weather, caused a decreased attendance to witness the sport. The mile purse featured and it resulted in a victory for Rapid Day, but his backers after the finish were kept in suspense while awaiting to learn the stewards verdict with respect to the interference the horse was forced to commit as a result of M. Garners action in guiding him sharply across Dr. Carmen when he was wresting the lead from the latter while about to round Into the stretch. Dr. Carmen was practically eliminated as a result of the interference, the most contention in the stretcli to Rapid Day being offered by Legal and Travesty, the first named taking second place by a scant head. The stewards evidently took Into consideration the fact that Dr. Carmens failure to finish among the placed ones would prevent him from being In any wise benefited in the event of Rapid Days disqualification, so they left the finish undisturbed, but Garner came in for immediate attention and he will not ride any more for the rest of the meeting. E. R. Bradley uncovered a speedy youngster in the maiden two-year-old race In his Brown Check, a first-time starter, which won in easy style from Willow Tree and Dark Friar. High Gear furnished an upset when he won the opener from fourteen other platers. According to reports, E. C. Smith and M. N. Mac-farlan will serve as stewards at the New Orleans Fair Grounds next winter; J. B. Campbell will be racing secretary and Joe McLennan clerk of the scales. Campbell and McLennan will also act as placing judges. A. B. Dade will again serve as starter.
