DEATH OF THE OWNER OF RABELAIS The death took place in Paris October 31 of M. Maurice de Ghcest, a prominent figure in the French racing world, whose nomination as Knight of the Legion of Honour had only appeared iu the "Journal Officiel" of the previous day. He was seventy-one years old. For years his colors secured many successes and, as a breeder of bloodstock, it was he who, i- partnerhip with Comte de Nieolay, imported the famous stallion Rabelais from England.
