HUNTING, FISHING AND SPORT. " It is said that the quail shooting will bo better this autumn in Oklahoma than for the last ten years. The open season on quail in that state in the month of December and part of the time tlie weather is so unfavorable, that no hunting c.au be done and this helps to make the birds plentiful. Fourteen hunters were employed in Idaho during August iu the campaign for tlie extermination of predatory animalst according to announcement of the United States Department of Agriculture The total kill includes 239 coyotes and 15 bobcats. Xot all the men worked full time and tlie average per man each month was 20:6 predatory animals. Old residents of Xewport, Ore., say that it is fourteen years since the salmon fishing in Yaquina Bay hns been even one-half as good as it is now. At present the fish are biting hungrily and it Is a daily sight to see anglers walk down tlie streets of the town with from three to a dozen beautiful silveisidts, caught iu frgui qug to three hours.
