KINGS PLATE CANDIDATES Review of Eligibles for Canadas Long Established Race Royal Visitor and Herendesy the Most Favored Ones Sea ¬ gram Stable Prominent TORONTO Ont May 1 The Kings Plate of 1921 which will be run as the feature of the open ¬ ing days races of the Ontario Jockey Club spring meeting at Woodbine Park on Saturday May 21 is expected to provide one of the best contests in the hjstpry ot this oldestablihed event There is sure to be a large field and the class of horses entered is far above the average The open winter has enabled the trainers to have their charges well ad vanced in training trainingRoyal Royal Visitor from the BrennerGiddings stable It the public favorite for the race but there are a number of others which showed on their public form as twoyearolds that they must be reckoned with as factors for the guineas The Brookdale Stables Herendesy had a splendid racing record last year as did the gray filly Greybourne owned by Robert Newell of Toronto Witch Flower and Bel joy from the Thorncliffe Stable and Gallipot War Tank and GallouBerry from the Seagram stable The Water ¬ loo horseman also has the fouryearold Crown of Gold which was the favorite for last years Plate anrtwhich was saved for this years race after racing three times last year yearTho Tho BrennerOiddings confederacy jias three strings to its bow Royal Victory the pride ojT the stable started in eight races last year In his first four starts he was only once in the money but won three out of the next four races and showed sufficient to give him considerable prestige among thin years Plate candidates Jockey Frank Keogh has been engaged to ride Royal Visitor VisitorChief Chief Sponsor will be remember as the sensa ¬ tional longshot winner of last years spring meet ¬ ing at Woodbine He won two other races and was second once making a fairly creditable record for his eight starts Heath Bell was the most highly tried twoyearold of the Oakvillc Stable but was unlucky in her races She started in twelve races earned brackets twice was second four times and third twice twiceThe The Brookdale Stable has five candidates Heren ¬ desy is the hope of the stable and on his racing last year as a twoyearold is the horse to beat for the Plate This sturdy black colt started in twelve races last year and was never out of the money although he won only three races He was second three times and third on six occasions His sire Heresy won the Plate in 1912 and the entire County of Simeon expects him to duplicate the feat this year Herendesy closed his twoyearold year with n victory at the Woodbine autumn meeting in the Nursery Handicap over Ajom Greybourne and Chief Sponsor Resarf named aftes the estimable Ontario Jockey Club secretary is a candidate that must not be overlooked He faced the barrier eleven times as a two yearold and while he won only a single vic ¬ tory he was second three times and third three times He improved with racing experience and looked pretty good toward the end of the year War Canoe was unplaced in four starts and Nomis in three attempts but the other Brookdale filly Reconnaissance had as good a record as any three yearold in the race She started twelve times as a twoyparold won her first eighth and last races and also had a second and third to her credit creditOHETBOURNES OHETBOURNES CHANCES WELL FANCIED FANCIEDMany Many good judges fancy the chances of the game little gray filly Greybonrne owned by Robert New ¬ ell of Toronto which made such a splendid shpw ing in her twoyearold racing Greybourne had a fine record on the Canadian circuit last year racing with the best Ontariobred horses She won three out of twelve starts and had two seconds and four thirds In every race she finished fast and showed qualities of endurance that should stand her in good stead over the mile and a quarter route on Plate day Greybourne has been trained by John Walker at Dufferin Park all winter and is reported to be in grand condition She is the best product of Airtner yet seen on the Canadian turf turfThe The Seagram stable can never be overlooked in a discussion of Kings Plate prospects and this year is no exception to the rule Trainer Bringloe lias four candidates from Waterloo in the entry list Crown of Gold is the fouryearold Gallipot showed herself a fleet filly last year in the twoyearold class winning two races and being third twice in BX starts She is by Galatine Royal China Gal ¬ lonBerry by Galatine was always knocking at the door in his first five starts and then finished the season with a win on a heavy track He was sec onjl once and third three times War Tank had more racing than any of the others The Inferno gelding started eighteen times and won one race He was second once and third five times He gave great promise in the early racing but did not seem to have staying qualities qualitiesThe The Thofncliffe Stable has some good candidates for the big race Witcli Flower won two races and was second once in her six starts last year She suoived speed and courage Beljoy won two races out of nine starts being second once and third three times Fuse was highly tried last year but in her four starts failed to win getting a second and a third These three fillies are by Calgary which was a star performer in the Thorncliffe Stable when lie was a twoyearold South Shore an Orineshore filly has never started while Broad ¬ view a chestnut gelding by First Sight Loupania was somewhat of a disappointment lust year start ¬ ing ii eleven races without earning brackets He was wjcpiid three times and third twice Jockey J MeTaggart will have first choice of the mounts forthe plate plateGeorge George M Hendrie of Windsor has three candi ¬ dates one of which Shoulder Arms a threeyear old chestnut colt by Charles Edward Shimonese is considered to have a good ciiance for the long end oftlie purse Shoulder Arms lias never started but has been at Woodbine all winter in charge of tfiner John Nixon Mr Hendrie will also be rep ¬ resented by the fouryearold Overseas and the threeyearold Orient Bay Mrs L A Livingston of Cobourg has four en ¬ tries all threeyearolds Flea started five time last year and was second once and third once SpearHalf was unplaced in his only start Ragged llobin the same in two starts while Moll Cutpurse faced the borrier three times without getting in the money moneyDrummond Drummond Hill a sixryearold maiden will carry the colors of James L Rysdale L Simon lias Francis Britain a threeyearold bay Colt bv Amner which started four times last year and was second on one occasion J E Smallman will be represented by OBryan a tlireeyeafold colt by Charlie Gilbert GilbertS S Cowdrills candidate Rose Richmond a four yearold filly by First Sight formerly of the Thorncliffe Stable has had more racing experience than all the other entries piit together She started in twentynix races last year without earning brackets but had the
