MELVIN, under au incompetent ride, was all over the track and caused THE VIRGINIAN to fall in the stretch. JETSAM was eased up in the last eighth. RAPID DAY showed much speed and followed REDMON closely, but swerved badly in the last sixteenth, which tost him second place. MISSED THE TIME ran well. MABEL G.. tired after going a fast half mile.
