BROOMSPUNS BRIEF CAREER Racing History of Gallant Colt Which Ended Sensationally at Aqueduct. The untimely death of Broomspun, which occurred after the running of the Carlton Stakes at Aqueduct Saturday. June 19, is a distinct loss to the thoroughbred world. The three-year-olds- son of Broomstick Spun Glass did nothing sensational as a two-year-old, but started his three-year-old career most auspiciously. His first appearance this year was in the Ten Broock Handicap at Churchill Downs May 9. This lie won impressively. His next performance was at Pimlico May 17. when he won the Preakness in a milliner which stamped him as a great colt, one which would worthily uphold the traditions of his illustrious lineage. Broomspuns racing history is as follows: Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp. Am t. Won 1920 11 1 1 2 4 $ 4.800 1921 3 2 0 0 1 44,200 Totals 2 14 3 4 2 3 ?19,000 Broke leg and was destroyed.
