NATIONAL STUD FILLY A WINNER LONDON, England, June 25. On the last day at Epsom the Acorn Plate of ,000 for two-year-old fillies was won by Flame of Fire. She finished nearly two lengths in front of the odds-on favorite, Fifine. The little daughter of Fifinella swerved in running and this probably cost her the race. Flame of Fire is a National Stud product, and this was her third race. She cost her owner 0,000 at the first October sales. Flame of Fire is by White Eagle Flaming Vixen, for which several American breeders were anxious to make big bids, when it was thought that Col. Hall Walkers blood stock would be offered at the December sales in 1915. This was the time the British government was "considering" whether or not to accept Lord Wa-vertrees magnificent gift of his land and all the stallions, yearlings, mares and foals at the Tiilly Stud Farm in Kildare. Ireland. As is well knowu. it was only a few hours before the mures and foals were to be offered at auction that the governments acceptance was announced, liven in such a period of depretsion. it is certain that Flaming Vixen would have been a sensational offering and made the highest price of the sales. She is by Flying Fox Amphora, sister to Sundridge. She produced Glass Jug. which is in the stud of the well known American sportsman, Maj. G. A. Cochran.
