DEVONSHIRE OPENS TODAY Prospects Bright for Successful Meeting, with Plenty of Racing Material Available. AVINDSOR, Out.. August 20. -The second 1021 meeting at Devonshire Park will open Saturday under the auspices of the Western Hacing Association and promises to be one of the best held in Canada this summer. Although some of the horses stabled at the Windsor Jockey Club were shipped to Montreal, there is plenty of racing .material remaining here, as shown by the large list of entries for tomorrows sport. There are also a sufficient number of good riders here to assure no shortage in that respect. The curd for tomorrow is featured by the AVindsor Handicap, with a purse of ,500 attached for three-year-olds and over to go a distance of out-mile. Five are entered in the contest and the Sunuyland Stables Irish Kiss is asked to carry top weight of 11S pounds,- giving away eight pounds to Hygone Days and fourteen to T. E. Crists good mare Incog. The other six races are claiming affairs with the exception of the second, which calls for maiden two-year-olds to go five and a half furlongs. The weather conditions promise to be ideal and tlie track in excellent condition. Many improvements have been made and the management is to be congratulated, on its efforts to make everything convenient and comfortable for its natrons. The first race will start daily at 2:30 p. m.
