SANDE EULOGIZES THUNDERCLAP A SARATOGA, N. Y., August 20. While the prowess of Thunderclap, the Rancocas Stables five-year-old black son of Vulcain Bandana, is well known, it remains for jockey Earl Sande, his usual pilot, to tell of his real merits. "lie will not take no for an answer," said the crack rider, "and lie is never beaten until the numbers are hung out. There never was a horse that would run such a true race as he, and no matter how heavily he is weighted, lie is always doing his best. Several times horses have passed him, and even to me it appeared as though he was done for, but Hearing the finish lie would make a final s;nirt, and it generally was successful. When he is blocked on the inside rail he readily runs around his opponents, and I firmly believe tiiat winning races is a pleasure to him."
