DONCASTER ST. LEGER DAY Probable Starters for the Final of the Five Great Classics of Racing. LONDON. England, September 5. The old, historic St. l.eger will be decided at Doncaster tomorrow afternoon. It is one of the oldest of the English classics, having an uninterrupted historv since its inauguration in 17715, which was not arrested even by the mighty world war. To scan over a list of past winners of thus great race is comparable only to reading pages of the stud book, for almost every name recalls a great sire or dam whose descendants are making the turf history of today. Among the winners in the latter years of the race appear Ormonde. Donovan, Common, Isinglass Persimmon. Wild fowler. Flying Fox, Diamond Jubil lce. Rock Sand. Sceptre, Pretty Pollv, Bavardo Swynford. Prince Palatine, Tracery, Pommern and Hurry On. I-ist year the race was won bv a foreigner, M. GccuMas, who won it with Caligula. The nominations for This years race closed November 4. 1010. with 315 entries, eightv-four of which declared forfeit at S20 each. The race is for tinee-year-old colts and fillies, colts to carry l"f pounds, fillies 123 pounds. The net value to winner is 2,000.
