TOMORROW IS LATONIAS BIG DAY Kentuckys overshadowing autumn fixture is the La-tonia Championship, a race of one and three-quarters miles for three-year-olds, which will have an added money value of 5,000 and a gross valuation of about 2,000. Rasing the field that will face the barrier on eight starters, not an unreasonable estimate, the net value to the winner will be alniut 4,000, approximately ,000 more than the winners portion last year. Entries to this stake closed ! July 1, 1919. with 320 nominations. January 1, 1920, 221 made second payment, while January 1 of the present year eighty-eight remained eligible by making third payment. It will cost 00 to start, and even this comparatively large fee will not deter many owners from taking a chance of capturing the rich prize. The Latonia Championship will be run on September 17. on which date the Fort Thomas Handicap, for two-year-olds, is also sot for decision. The doubii! attraction will make this date easily the most important of the Kentucky autumn season. Conspicuous among the eastern -owned eligibles to the Latonia Championship are Grey Lag, Sporting Blood, Flambette, Nancy Lee and Touch Me Not. I The last named, by defeating Grey Lag in the recent running of the Lawrence Realization at Belmont Park, loomed up as a mighty strong factor for Latonia Championship honors, but advices from the. East, yesterday were that the colt developed a quarter crack and will not race again this year. The Fort Thomas Handicap will prove a worthy companion piece to the Latonia Championship on the afternoon of September 17. This great stake for two-year-olds achieves additional distinction from the fact that Mont fort Jones sterling filly. Miss Joy, will be a most likely starter and. if such proves the case, it will mark her first public appearance on her native heath since her successful campaign at Saratoga. Morvich is also numbered among the eligibles to this stake, but it is conjectural whether his owner intends shipping the colt here to start in the race. Other potential eligibles to the start are Fair Phantom, Sir Hugh, Pegasus, John Finn. Rekab, Casey, .Ranker Brown, Jeanne Rowdre, Aloft, Bonus and the eastern owned Sidereal.
