Some time ago options on Tanforan wer" tied up. and now that the preliminary steps have been taken it is stated that work will go forward rapidly. Tanforan is twelve miles from San Francisco, down the peninsula, and easily accessible by street car or automobile. "It is the belief of the organizers of this undertaking." said Hudolph Spreckels. "that the people of California desire to see horse racing eatabUshed on a cleilh and lawful basis and thai the puttie attendance will justify their faith thai horse racing can be successfully conducted without public gambling." The New York system will be adopted for what betting is done on the Tanforan racing.
