LATEST KENTUCKY GOSSIP Jockey J. Howard Buys Hollywood Farm — Brother to Sporting Blood Foaled. LEXINGTON, Ky.. February 22.— Jockey Jack Hound, who is under eagageaBeat to Major Thomas C. McDowell, having decided to make his home permanently in Kentucky, today closed negotiations with J. L Gregory for Hollywood Farm of 116 acres, on the Bryan station pike. Hollywood foiincrly was the property of the late Mrs. John M. Shannon, mother of C. Barry Shannon, manager of Col. K. R Bradleys Idle Hoar Stock Farm. Jockey Howard has arranged with William Pajae to take charge of the place, and it is intended that it shall be improved to be a first -class small establishment for the care of thoroughbred horses. and eventually it is to be the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard when Jacks riding and training days are over. Carroll Reid, former distinguished trainer, now retired to his farm at Hoostonrille, was here today to arrange for the breeding of Loch Linnhe to Huon II. at Beaumont Farm. He bought Loch Linnhe, by Loehryaa- Bala, by Torpedo, from K. L. Daria in the fall of 1921. and last spring she foaled a handsome chestnut colt by Fair Play. This ealt has been much admired by several horsemen in this vicinity who have driven to Houstonville to see him. "He is as much like Fair Play in color and conformation as one horse can be like another." said Beid today, "and I think he is as good a prospect for racing as I ever laid my eyes upon." Margaret Kent, by Plaudit, which were bequeathed to her by her husband at his death a fortnight ago. Watterson Showalt r was a brother of Jack Showalter, former international chess champion, who reside* at Georgetown. Sporting Blood has a baby brother at Major August Belmonts Nursery Stud. Herring had the misfortune to lose the foal by Campfin — Shadow, by Charles Edward, This youngster was a half brother to the colt by Ormondale. which was purchased last fall by John K.
