Y., February 26.— With the Metropolitan racing season approaching, trainers who have thoroughbreds in their charge in this vicinity are beginning to make arrangements for training operations. In many cases this necessitates moving the horses from their winter quarters to one of the local tracks. The horsemen who have been wintering their stables at the old Gravesend track will be among the first to move. The real estate firm which purchased the property has notified R. V. Boyle, trainer of the Fernbrook and Diamond Stables, that the ground occupied by his stable at Gravesend will be wanted by March 4, and he has accordingly arranged to transfer his horses to the Jamaica track by that time. Jamaica officials handling the applications for . stable room at that track have been swamped with requests for accommodations. They say that they could utilize several hundred more stalls than they have at present. Frank Farrells horses, which have also been i quartered at Gravesend, will be moved to Jamaica next week, and all of the hundred or so thoroughbreds, which have spent the winter at the old track, will be moved to other quarters soon. W. H. Karrick, trainer for the Oneck Stable and W. R. Coe, has engaged the stables at Jamaica which were formerly occupied by the John Sanford horses. He will send some of his younger horses to the Jamaica track in a short time, but will retain the stables at Belmont Park and keep most of his horses there. a
