-♦ SIX MORE DAYS AT MOBILE Prospects Are for Improved Weather and Track Conditions for Final Weeks Racing. MOBILE. ALA.. March 12. — Indications point to ideal weather and track conditions for the final weeks racing here, the com -e at the local fair grounds having dried out thoroughly today. II has been clearly demons! rated during tiie four ear* of the meeting here that there is a bright future for the thoroughbred sport in this locality. The local people are heartily in favor of it and they •urn out in large numbers at every opportunity. Drawing as it has hundreds of visitors it proved a boon lo the merchants ami they are unanimous in exprea ing themselves that it has helped their business more limn any other attraction here in yen-. The only drawback is the track proper, as a majority of the horses here are not acciis:omed to racing over a half mile course, but they hive performed well at thill. Cnavoidable crowding •ml some intentional as well, naturally tends to mar the racing to some extent. There invariably is a mail scramble going to the first turn and the bends are so sharp that it is ■ hard task to figure how the horses keep in their stride. Rough methods have also been indulged in by some of the jockeys. Tiie followers of form have no complaint to offer lure as iwelve choices have v on in iwenly-thr-e rcces. Throe of the successful favorites were of the odds-oil variety, while one a I leal than evens was defeated. Jockey W. Hinphy. who devotes the greater part of his time to riding over the half-mile tracks in Canada, stands out over the other jockeys here. He has ridden seven winners in four days, and his siddle work is all the more pronounced in view of the fact that he has accepted only fifteen mounts. There is a deficiency of riders and none of great merit. Jockey K. Pollard ha* severed connection with the Cain and Sanford stable and departed today for liis home in Toronto.
