The inaugural meeting of the newly organized ; International Jockey Club of .Mexico w.ts held at ] Mexico City from January 14 to February 2«, embracing a period of forty racing days, dining wliicil time S125.450 was distributed among tile horsemen. There were 243 races decided and th* daily average distribution amounted to 13,136. While the meeting was not a aaceeaa ffcaaai lallj the promoters received sufficient encouragement to go ahead with their plans and they are ijuite optimistic over the future ■ if racing in the Mexican capital. More than HN American horses participated in the meeting and eighty of them were sold to Mexican s|K rtsmeu. who will hold triweekly race* during the summer. This • will serve to keep alive the interest in the sport until it is resumed on a large scale next November.
