M0RVICH COMING WEST SOON Works a Fast Seven-Eighths at Jamaica and Is to Be Shipped May 9. JAMAICA, N., T.. April 23.— Early thia morning Benjamin Block owner of Morvich, last years unbeaten two-year-old champion, arrived here with a party of friends to witness the Derby candidate in a real speed test. In sunny, but decidedly cool weather, the most-talked-about colt of the North American continent today, was dispatched on a seven-eighths gallop with jockey McAteo as his pilot. Morvich covered the distanca in 1:26%, his fractional time being 11, 22%, 34, 46%, 59% and 1 :13. He pulled up fresh and sound. Local turf devotees may have an opportunity of seeing the favorite for the Kentucky Derby in action in the Iaumonok Handicap May 3. According to present arrangements Morvich will be shipped to Churchill Downs May 9 and will complete his preparations for the historic race on the Blue Grass tracks. Interviewed by a Daily Racing Form representative this morning, Mr. Block stated that Morvich, barring unforeseen circumstances, would face the starter in the Derby and said he considered that his most dangerous opponent would be Lucky Hour, which will be a certain starter.
