ALIVE WITH FINE HORSES I Owners, Jockeys and Racers Swarming to Lexington for Its Close By Meeting. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 23— With the spring racing season only five days away the « track at the Kentucky Jockey Club course fairly swarmed with visitors today. New I arrivals are getting in with each train and more are expected tomorrow and Tuesday. William Woodard got in from New Orleans with Chieffon. Dearie and Nylorac, candidates for the Hinata Stakes. Lou Cahn is expected this afternoon from Louisville with five. There are now 650 horses quartered at the track and 100 stalls are being reserved for late comers. Lexington can boast of having the greatest array of Kentucky Derby candidates quartered on any race course in America. There are now twenty-four at the local plant With those coming from Louisville this week the number will be augmented to thirty-five. John C. Ferriss, who has not raced here for a number of years, will bring a division of the George J. Long stable Tuesday, also a number of his own horses. George Barnes will bring three of C. W. Clarks representatives, including Tom Hare Jr., candidate for the Blue Grass Stakes. G. L. Blackford will send five, in charge of Dick Vestal, including Centimeter, candidate for the Ben All Handicap. John S. Ward will bring eight, mostly two-year-old candidates for the Hinata and Idle Hour Stakes. C. C. Van Meter will bring thirteen belonging to Frank J. Ke.ley. Robert Shannon will bring his Derby candidate Deadlock, which will start in the Blue Grass Stakes. L. F. Marshall will bring four, headed by Commander McMeekin, also Our Dear, a probable starter in the Ashland Oaks. The jockey colony will consist of many of the leading riders of the country. A number of them are already here. Mack Garner will pilot the Camden-Milam string, Dan Connelly will ride for H. H. Hewitt, E. Barnes and Newton Barrett for E. R. Bradley, Jack Howard for Thomas C. McDowell, Walter Taylor for Hal Price Headley, E. H. Scobie for Kay Spence, T. Murray and H. Luns-ford for William Perkins, Earl Pool for the Florisant Stable, B. Kennedy for Mose Gold-blatt, Steve Wida for C. W. Clark, A. Wilson for C. E. Knebelkamp, H. Burke for John S. Ward. E. Noble for Gallaher Brothers, W. Smallwood for G. L. Blackford, W. Lilley for Joe Hawkins, O. Willis for Dan Scott and Joe Kederis for George J. Long. The best works of the day were John Finn, a mile in 1 :41, pulled up, and a mile and an eighth in 1:54%; Kinburn, a mile in 1:41%; Martha Fallon, a mile in 1 :45 ; Minto, three-quarters in 1 :15 easily ; Sewell Combs, three-quarters in 1 :14 ; Tableau dHonneur, three-quarters in 1:14% ; Brotherly Love, three-quarters in 1 :13 ; By Gosh, a mile and a quarter in 2:11; Clover, three-eighths in 36; Casey, a mile in 1 :41 ; Faux Col, seven-eighths in 1 :28 ; Glengarry, three quarters in 1 :15 ; Gentleman Jouett, a mile in 1 :45 ; Glyn, three-quarters in 1 :14% ; Jouett, a mile in 1:42%; Legal, a mile in 1:44.
