PIMLICO9 S GLORIOUS RACE MEETING MARYLAND JOCKEY CLUB DISTRIBUTES 212586 IN INSTAKES STAKES AND PURSES DURING TWELVE DAYS OF OFRACING RACING VITH THE 50000 PREAKNESS PREAKNESSSTAKES STAKES AS OUrSTANDING FEATURE The Maryland Jockey Club the oldest and most progressive of Marylands racing or anizatlons added another bright page to its illustrious history which began In 1868 when the spring meeting of 1922 ended in a blaze of glory with the running of the 50000 Preak ness Stakes Saturdays racing was a wonderful climax to twelve days of sport of the highest class during which time eightyfour races were run and the imposing total of 212586 distributed In stakes and purses How well the horsemen fared who participated in the racing is seen in the daily average distribution of 17715 Naturally the chief interest centered In the running of the Preakness and although Pillory its winner was an out ¬ sider in the calculations of the public his victory was none the less popular This was in a great measure due not only to the smashing good race of the chestnut son of Olambala Hester Pyrnne but to the great popularity of his owner and breeder R T Wilson and the veteran trainer Thomas J Healey It certainly proved a fortunate move on the part of trainer T J Healey in taking the R T Wilson horses to Pimlico They won five races there including the Preak ¬ ness and as a result the name of the presi ¬ dent of the Saratoga Racing Association ap ¬ pears at the top of the list of the money winning owners with the large total of 56398 to his credit The stable of Com ¬ mander J K L Ross was in good form and quite successful accounting for seven races and 12130 W S Kilmer and the Salubria Stable also figured prominently with 7700 and 7050 respectively to their credit The owners
