j l I v I . * , ■ I ] |j i , STARS IN BROOKLYN HANDICAP j EXTERMINATOR, GREY LAG, MAD BATTER AND OTHER I L HORSES NAMED TO START IN OPENING DAY FEATURE OF THE QUEENS COUNTY JOCKEY CLUB MEETING What a wonderful fieid for the Brooklyn Handicap! Exterminator, Grey Lag, Mad Hatter, Captain Alccck, Senninga Park, Polly Ann. Devastation and Bersagliere. Ihey are names to conjure with. And what a wonderful contest it should be when such mighty giants of the turf clash today at the popular Aqueduct course of the Queens County Club! The Brooklyn, in its long 2nd eventful history, has always attracted the best horses of each year, so todays glorious field is only in keeping with the best traditions of this noted fixture. The marvelous Exterminator is the top weight with 135 pounds, but heavy weights and * long distances are no strangers to the great gelding, so that is no new honor to the greatest of all American cup horse.=. The unabiding faith of the public in Exterminator is seen in the overnight betting quotations, he being an equal favorite with the Raneocaa pair, Grey Lag and Mad Hatter. , Grey Lag is the hope of the Rancocas Stable to give Exterminator a real race. He was undoubtedly the best three year-old of last year and is one of the few three-year-old winners of the Brooklyn. He was the victor last year, finishing ahead of John P. drier and Exterminator in the remarkably fast time of 1:49%. Can he repeat again and triumph over the great. Exterminator? The latter was never better than he ia at present, as he has demonstrated in his notable Kentucky and Eastern successes. Grey Lag has only started once this year, but on that occasion gave every evidence that he was the same grand racer that swept everything before him last year. Truly a meeting of two such grand racers as Exterminator and Grey Lag is a treat in itself, to say nothing of such other fornudible contenders as Mad Hatter, Captain Alcock and Senninga Park will prove to be. Certainly the prospects are excellent for one of the greatest races of the year and all New Yorkers who can crowd into the Aqueduct course will be there to see it.
