SALE OF YEARLINGS AT SARATOGA BEGINS TONIGHT SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., August 3. The Saratoga yearling sales of 1022 will bo inaugurated in the Fasig-Tipton Companys paddocks tomorrow night with the offering by Arthur B. Hancock of a group of sixteen colts and fillies by the famous Omar Khayyam. The sales will continue through the month and probably as many as 500 budding racers will be sold under the hammer. These youngsters came from the various parts cf the country in which thoroughbred production is prosecuted New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky. The indications are that breeders will realize handsomely on their thoroughbred stock. Horses sold privately since the beginning of the year have brought big prices Firebrand, 0,000 ; Snob II., 5,000; Dunlin, 7,500, etc. The Sprec-kles two-year-olds brought a high average. Racing was never in a more flourishing state and its popularity is everywhere spreading. The breeding industry of the country really must be expanded to meet the rising demand for thoroughbred stock.
