I . j I j i THIRTY LEADING TWO- YEAR-OLDS I Will the year 1922 go down in turf histoiy without a real two-year-old champion; one that stands out from the others as did Morvich last year, and Tryster, Man o Yar, Eternal, Sun Briar and others in previous years? It scarcely seems probable, but we have arrived at Saratoga racing without any clear conception of which may be thft best youngster that has appeared thus far. The early spring epidemic of sickness kept some of the most promis-i ing juveniles away from the races and it may be that the prospective champion is one of them and has not appeared on the scene as yet. Be that as it may, it is quite a singular circumstance that here in a year of plenty with stake races of great value the leading money winning two-year-old of 1922 has only 4,180 to his credit. In fact only eight two-year-clds have won in excess of 0,009. However, the coming decision of valuable juvenile races at Saratoga may entirely change the juvenile situation and reveal some of the real stars of the year. For the present the standing of the thirty leading two-year-olds, from January 1 to and including the races of August 2, is as follows: Horse. Col. and Sex. Pedigree Owner. Sta. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp.
