DEVOTED TO ODDS AND ENDS Saratogas Monday Sale One of Miscellaneous Horses in . Light Demand. SARATOGA" SPRINGS, N. T., August 22. Horses in training, stallions, brood mares, yearlings and weanlings made up the disper-. sal sale of the Canterbury Farms at the Fasig-Tipton mart last night. Twenty-nine were disposed of for a total of 1,600, an average of ,089 each. Several of the brood mares were sold with their foals at their side as a single lot. The attendance at the sale was the lightest of .the series to date and there was not much life in the bidding. The veteran Belle of Bryn Mawr brought the top price of ,500. She was purchased by L. Powers. Robinetta, in her day a useful racer, was acquired by Arthur B. Hancock for ,400. This mare is an eleven-year-old daughter of Fair Play Retained II. and several breeders were after her. Surprise was occasioned when The Welkin, at one time an excellent racer through the field, was sold to Woods Garth for 00. She had a chestnut weanling filly by Trojan at her side. This mare is seventeen years old. She has been mated back with Trojan.
