FUTURITY AT BELMONT PARK ? - TWENTY-FIVE TWO-YEAR-OLDS NAMED TO START IN AMERICAS MOST FAMOUS JUVENILE RACE AND FOR ONE OF THE GREATEST TURF PRIZES OF THE YEAR Today is Futurity day. The most famous of American racss for two-year-olds will be run at Belmont Park this afternoon. The glamour of romance which has been part and parcel of the Futurity since its first running in 1888 is still strong in the hearts of American lovere of the thoroughbred and tha sport cf racing. It will be reflected in the great gathering at the palatial home of the Westchester Racing Association this afternoon, a gathering most likely unmatched numerically this year; it will aho be reflected by widespread interest in the result of the race the country oyer. For the thirty-third running of the Futurity one of the largest fields in its history has been named to contest for its rich prize. Twenty-five of the acknowledged leaders of the two-year-clds of 1922 are carded as probable starters, with the Rancocas Stables Zev the overnight favorite at 3 to 1. Goshawk is second choice. Probably the chief reason for the unusually large field for this years Futurity is the fact that there is no outstanding champion among the two-year-clds of 1922. However, there is another reason and one that may have had considerable bearing on the size of the field, namely, the great monetary value of the race this year. If all the twenty-five horses named overnight should face the starter the gross value will be 8,410, the largest it has reached since the good old days when racing flourished at Sheepshead Bay, where the Futurity was first run.
