Start good and slow. Won easily; second and third driving. SHAFFER took the lead at once and, running well in the going, always held the race safe. GOOD TIME raced in nearest pursuit all the way and outfinished RVIL in the final drive. EVIL was well ridden and finished gamely. NIGHTBOAT was in close quarters at the start and gained steadily until rounding the last turn, where he stnmbled, but recovered quickly and was forced wide after entering the stretch and lost ground., TnE PERUVIAN raced wide throughout. AVon eased up; second and third driving. SUPERCARGO took the lead at once and, setting a good pace, won all the way and finished easing up. THE HOTTENTOT was always in closest pursuit and, finishing gamely, outstayed PHILOSOPHER. The latter began slowly and closed a big gap in the first half mile, but tired. GUELPH lacked speed and dropped back in the early running, but finished well. GUNSIGHT raced next to the inner rail in the early running and. when taken out to better going, closed a big gap. LORD HERBERT was saved for five-eighths, then moved up menacingly, but was forced wide when entering the stretch, then came again and outstayed SEA MINT for second place. SEA MINT rushed into the lead and showed the most speed, but tired in the last eighth. SERVIO STAR tired and quit badly in the final quarter. RAMKIN ran poorly. MISS STAR raced into the lead in the first eighth and, setting a great pace, saved ground when entering the stretch and, outfinishing AMUSEMENT, won drawing clear. The latter raced in closest pursuit of the leader all the way and moved up gamely after entering the stretch, but tired in the final sixteenth. HOAV FAIR was shuffled back at the start, but was brought around the leaders on the last turn and closed a big gap. SUAVEEP raced gamely, but tired in the final eighth. GADFLY raced gamely. EQUINOCTIAL ran fairly well. EDICT was in close quarters on the last turn and was never a dangerous contender. BEST LOVE had no mishaps. UNTIDY stumbled.
