GEORGE WALKER TO RETIRE TORONTO, Ont,, November 1. It is reported on good authority that the veteran trainer George Walker, who has been in charge of the Brookdale Stable of Barrie for the last five or six years, is retiring. George was pretty well disgusted this summer with the bad breaks he was having, it starting before the spring races when Corenzio, favorite for the Kings Plate, went wrong, and the jinx pursued him all summer. However, he showed what a skillful trainer he was by getting Corenzio fitted for one race and beating the best sprinters at the Windsor meeting. Mr. Walker has trained many good horses in his day, having been in charge of big stables in America, Germany, France, Belgium and England. He is a careful man with a horse, but always has them fit for the word when he sends them to the post. Last year he won 1,655 with the Brookdale Stable, but misfortunes this, year reduced this amount greatly. His many friends wish him the best of luck. A
