FASTER THAN THE ARAB A number of years ago the South of France made a specialty of breeding AngloAra ¬ bian horses and the races for that class filled well It is instructive to note the differ ¬ ence in the times taken to cover certain distances oy thoroughbreds and Arabs In France there is an official chronometre and races are timed with great exactitude A thoroughbred is as a rule several seconds faster over a mile than an Arab and in one instance at the meeting there was a dif ¬ ference of ten seconds in two races distance a mile and a quarter This demonstrates how the English thoroughbred has improved on the original Arab stock
