prospect for rain but as the noon hour came a bright sun took the lace of the threatening clouds which did much to bring out one of the largest ladles day crowd of the meeting meetingWhat What might be termed the best field of the day paraded to the post in the sixth race a threequarters dash which brought to gether a half dozen sprinters The Shafer Conway entry Sam Reh ruled a luke ¬ warm favorite but his chances of winning were eliminated at the barrier when he was pinched out of it by jockey Rails on Little Beach which sharply cut across in front of the others as the barrier arose Settle close ¬ ly pressed by Little Beach cut out the run throughout Turning for home Little Beach had the most left in reserve and forging to the front when a sixteenth out she held the Irwin hope safe by the narrowest of margins Jockey Rails on Little Beach rode a confident race and perhaps he could have scored by more than the nose verdict which his mount received May Maulsby after racing wida throughout was third Sam Reh despite his sharp interference at the start made up much ground and finished fourth No doubt had he not encountered his early trouble he would have made it in ¬ teresting for those that finished in front of him himC C B Irwin added another purse to his credit in the seventh race when the mare Phrone Ward cantered home in front of Icon and Dark Ages For the major portion of the five and a half furlongs contest jockey Thomas had Phrone Ward under stout re CcnUnued on twelfth pace LADIES DAY AT TIJUANA Continued from first page straint and when he elected furlong dash and took a head decision from Faber the pacemaker and El Roble Reaps success marked the initial victory for Kimball Patterson wellknown eastern owner and trainer trainerThe The closest finish of the day came in the third race when Barriskane Count Boris and Harry Rudder finished in that order noseaj apart The winner was lucky to score as Count Boris came extremely wide entering the stretch and lost at least a length in doing so soGeorge George Muehlebach made every post a winning one in the opener which was a gal ¬ lop at one mile and seventy yards The real contest of Ihs race was for second money as it took the hardest kind of riding to land Seven Seas in that position a whisker in front of Pink Tenny The favorite Cigale raced poorly and was never a serious factor being far back throughout throughoutFRAITKLIX FRAITKLIX BREAKS DOW3T DOW3TThe The onetime good horse Franklin seemed to have a mortgage on the second race which was a split of the first but after leading un ¬ til the far turn he broke down in front and pulled up on three legs in a manner which no doubt spells finish for his racing ca ¬ reer The winner turned up in Theresa which took the long shot Starlikes measure by a half a length with Reydo third thirdFull Full Moon duplicated her victory of iccent date when she showed the way to the others in the fourth She was heavily supported in both books and mutuels and justified the liberal backing by winning as if much the best Closest to her at the finish raced Mil da and Alajah which were only noses apart in the ordar named namedThe The mare Mayflower which has been dis ¬ appointing in the cheapest kind of fields turned a flip flop in ths concluding dash and took the measure of the oddson choice Ham ¬ ilton A in easy fashion She was backed by a select few who were rewarded to the sum of better than 1C to 1 by her success successClaims Claims during the day were numerous there being five horses that changed owner ¬ ship After Barriskane had won the third race it was learned that Z E McGregor and W D Millard had lodged documents for the diminutive gelding and in the shakeoff the former was the one that fell heir to him Kimball Patterson added El Roble to his modest stable for the sum of 1600 talcing that colt out of the fifth race The next race saw Sam Reh claimed by W Gaines for 1900 The claiming fever still continued and in the seventh race Icon was acquired by R Cooper for 1300 1300Jockey Jockey Molters whose apprentice allow ¬ ance expired Friday celebrated his gradua ¬ tion by riding two winners Quite
