IN THE ROLE OF USURPER Harry D Takes Place of Motor MotorCop Cop in Affections of Owner OwnerC C B Irwin SAN DIEGO Cal January 19 At this time last winter Motor Cop famed sprinter was the star equine in the extensive stable which C B Irwin Wyoming horseman races at this track but the present meeting finds the grand campaigner Harry D occupying first place in the affections of owner Irwin This is not without cause for Harry D has just earned his tenth victory of the meeting making a mark which probably has never been equaled in such a short period of racing This gallant thoroughbred has started fourteen times since Thanlcsgiving day and in the thirtyseven racing days has won ten races been second twice and only out of the money on two occasions Harry Ds last victory was really a coup detat for he won at threequarters a dis ¬ tance which he had never before ran over with success successMotor Motor Cop seems to be unable to reach that good form he displayed last winter but there are hopes that he will round to top condi ¬ tion for he has scored four seconds so far and his defeats in each case averts by noses nosesSharing Sharing honors with Harry D in the Ir ¬ win thoroughbred domicile in the handicap horse Regreso a winner of seven races since the Tijuana opening Regresos latest vic ¬ tory at a mile and seventy yards in which he packed the heavy weight of 125 pounds stamped him a thoroughbred of great stam ¬ ina and endurance Furthermore he has won after making the pace and at oilier times has been victorious when coming from behind behindIrwin Irwin is far in the lead of the other owners in the matter of purse winnings and his total has now soared to 15000 which shows there is profit in a racing stable under proper management At this writing Irwin has twentyfour horses in his establishment eleven of which have as yet failed to win for him
