GALLANT IRISH KISS Continues His Good Work and Wins the Feature Valor First and Eama Runs Last Centimeter Unlucky but Runs a Fine Raoe NEW ORLEANS La February 3 Irish Kiss which has figured extensively in the Fair Grounds racing this winter again scored a wellmerited bracket when he won the mile and seventy yards handicap which featured the day Parader followed him and Sir Thomas Kean the favorite landed in third place There were only five starters Comic Sony and Boy from Home being the others of the field Morris understanding Irish Kiss moods and whims probably better than anyone else kept him restrained for threequarters in spite of the long lead that Sir Thomas Kean established When called on Irish Kiss responded with a rush and in the stretch passed Sir Thomas Kean with ease and ultimately won off Parader after beginning slowly made a fast sprint around the last turn and was going well when he was cut off badly He came on again how ¬ ever and headed Sir Thomas Kean for sec ¬ ond place placeAn An immense attendance was at the track this afternoon in spite of the heavy downpour that came after the noon hour The track however absorbed the rain easily and little trace of dullness was apparent in the going The course was bathed in sunshine and warmth for the first four races but after that a steady north wind sent the ther ¬ mometer tumbling to almost the freezing point The cold was accompanied by dark clouds which threatened ominously ominouslyPLEASING PLEASING ENTERTAINMENT ENTERTAINMENTTodays Todays racing offering was on a par with the best that has been noted here this win ¬ ter and furnished entertaining racing hugely enjoyed by the big crowd crowdThe The mile and a sixteenth purse that served jas the secondary feature resulted in a vic ¬ tory for Aalor over Tlunquoi and Gem with Kama and Fantoche serving as the disap ¬ pointments It was Ramas first time to be unplaced this winter A change of owners and trainers seems to have worked disas ¬ trously for him himIn In the Old Glory Purse a sprint at three quarters came the best finish of the after ¬ noon with LEffare the winner by a nose after coming from far back in the stretch to down Hidden Jewel It was a lucky win for LEffare as with an even sandoff Centimeter would have won Barnes lack of post alert ¬ ness coupled with Sunny Girl bumping into him at the start caused him to be practlcal ly left at the pest He cloned an immense gap to land in third place placeAnonymous Anonymous which has heretofore been a repeated disappointment was again a failure and a costly one to most of the backers He succumbed easily to John Q Kelly in the second race John Q Kellys showing was made more outstanding from the fact that Morris got him away slowly but he won easily from Anonymous with Major Chilton in third place placej Servitor gave a game exhibition in the sixth race by steadily overhauling Sea Cove and finally winning by a neck It was Sea Coves first race in a long time and lie ran jas if a bit short Sam Frank was favorite here but Corcoran got him off poorly and made much use of him in the early running causing him to tire in the stretch drive IIKEX JOLI IMPROVED The opening dash was won by the sud ¬ denly improved Green Gold which just managed to win by a nosc from the fast going Morn The latter finished on the ex ¬ treme outside and gave many the impression that she had got up in time timeRepeater Repeater favorite in the closing dash lc l for the entire race and won from Wylie The latter might have reversed the decision with him but for Chalmers action in attempting to come through an impossible orening in the last eighth and failing had to coaio around He was within a half length of the leader at the time and lost considerable ground by being taken back He finished gamely in second place with Ashland third thirdJ J B McKee is negotiating with L Morris to go to Tijuana and ride there for the Meadowbrook Stable campaigning a
