MACKENZIES BURIAL TODAY Chicago Sportsmen Attend Lasi Rites of Noted Canadian Turf ¬ man at Kirkfield Ont OntNoted Noted Chicago billiardists and horsemen will be represented at the funeral of Rod ¬ erick John Mackenzie lately of Winnipeg at Kirkfield Ont today Mr Mackenzie died at Los Angeles March 1 and the body which passed through Chicago Wednesday and ar ¬ rived at Toronto Thursday was met by John McCaffrey a district forester of the forest preserve district a leading figure among am ¬ ateur billiard players in Chicago and with whom Mr Mackenzie had many a tilt with the cue cueIt It is expected that he and Ed Butler of Chicago former boxer who saw service with Canadian soldiers during the war as an athletic instructor and others will be among those who will attend the funeral Mr Mac ¬ kenzie was one of the builders of the Canar dian Northern Railway His father Sir Wil ¬ liam Mackenzie of Toronto was the president of that company before its merger with the Grand Trunk and other lines now comprising the Canadian National system systemMr Mr Mackenzie had been associated with racing for over twentyfive years He was the owner of the Pleasanton track near San Francisco part owner of Thorncliffe Park at Toronto OnL and proprietor of the Kirk ¬ field Stable One of the best horses ever owned by Mr Mackenzie was the Broomstick horse Buckhorn
