WINS SEVEN IN A ROW Abadane Adds Another to His HisLong Long List of Victories and andEquals Equals Track Record SAN DIEGO Cal March 9 For the sev ¬ enth consecutive time Abadane has demon ¬ strated that he is genuine thoroughbred Though his accomplishments at the Tijuana race track since joining the C B Irwin string have been many and varied and ever with a brilliance he was a better horse than ever yesterday afternoon He earned a four ¬ fold victory in a handicap at threequarters Chronologically his performance can be re ¬ corded as follows He gave away weight to all in the race He successfully withstood repeated challenges He tied the track mark of 1 11 which was made by Slippery Elm with only 110 pounds on his back He ac ¬ complished this remarkable time over a dead track and was the winner by almpsta length from Feylance It was a grand race not grand in the size of the field but the quality that was there In addition to Abadane and Feylance there was Prince Tii Tii a promising candidate for the Tijuana Derby and the rich Coffroth Handicap Krewer Paisley and Ten Bub tons the latter being the winners stable companion companionAgain Again it was jockey Pablo Martinez who rode Abadane The Mexican elected to send Abadane to the front and despite his crush ¬ ing burden he set a seething pace First it was Krewer with only 104 pounds that essayed to wrest the command from him but ere the stretch was reached this speedy one had lowered his colors It was then that Feylance stout of heart and fleet of foot which had been reserved during the early running offered challenge For a moment it appeared as if Feylance would pass the Irwin crack Martinez on Abadane was quick to sense the danger and riding his mount his hardest with hands and heels the aged gelding drew away inch by inch Then amidst the roar of the big crowd Abadane passed the winning post with the best part of his shapely body showing in front of Fey ¬ lance The latter was five lengths the belter horse for second honors In third place came Prince Tii Tii which downed Krewer for the small end of the purse by a nose nosePrince Prince Tii Tii was making his initial start here under the colors of the Meadowbrook Stable The Derby candidate showed a sparkling performance He closed like a lion in the stretch after being badly outpaced in the early running His race yesterday should do him a world of good and no doubt it will require quite a horse to take his measure in the Tijuana Derby which will be decided March 18 18Two Two horses changed hands in the third race when C B Irwin claimed Sister Susie from C Irby and Quinlan Ileigel took Harry Rudder from Irwin The consideration in both cases was 900
