T E MUELLERS WIDA Kentucky Derby Candidate Scores Four Straight Successes Acosta and Coscorron in Terrific TerrificStretch Stretch Duel Rig Noise in inGood Good Performance HAVANA Cuba March 9 The Kentucky owned threeyearold Wida which races for the Louisville turfman T E Mueller scored his fourth straight victory at Oriental Park when the won the Hopeful Handicap this afternoon He carried top weight was ridden by Yerrat and came from behind in a driv ¬ ing finish to beat Wild Cat by a nose Wida has improved with racing and in his present form is easily the best of his age racing here He was nominated by his owner before leaving here for the Kentucky Derby and will receive a special preparation for that race by trainer J H Moody who has charge of Mr Muellers horses The disap ¬ pointment in this race was the poor showing made by Lorena Marccllia which was han ¬ dicapped by a poor ride rideEleven Eleven nonwinners at this meeting went to the post in the first race the conditions of which stipulated that entries must be the property of hoisemen who had not won a race here this winter It furnished a good contest and the winner turned up in Big Noise which came from behind in thestretch to get up in the last few sFridesTo heat Hie favorite Betty Mae by a length with Jack Healey third another head away McMurphy was pacemaker until the last sixteenth where he tired tiredForewarn Forewarn after beginning none too well gradually improved his position and finish ¬ ing fast got up in the final stride to beat Jennie C by a neck in the second race The latter had four lengths lead at the eighth post where it looked to be all over but the shouting When the final test came how ¬ ever she quit and First Pullet managed to get up in time to get the short end of the purse from Haran by the smallest of mar ¬ gins Immokalee fell lame and was pulled up upFEIIIIUMS FEIIIIUMS SPEED WI S SUncle Uncle Sonny threatened to make a run ¬ away of the fourth Burns got him away well and outdistancing the others to the turn drew away into a commanding lead in the backstretch and had what looked like a safe margin at the eighth post but tired badly at the end Ferrum coming from behind and finishing with great speed caught and passed him in the last fifty yards to win going away Thos F McMahon was third another length away and a head in front of Harold K KAcosta Acosta and Coscorron fought it out all through the stretch in the fifth race and Acosta just lasted long enough to get the verdict Coscorron might have won but for swerving over the inside at the sixteenth post where Groos was forced to stop riding and straighten him out Coscorron came again at the end and was wearing down the winner winnerStonewall Stonewall was claimed by S Miodow for 51000 51000Mr Mr and Mrs Julius Fleischmann of New York who recently arrived for an extended visit to Cuba were among the clubhouse guests today todayThe The program books for the first thirteen days of the Maple Heights meeting were received and distributed today among the horsemen The meeting opens May 5 and continues to May 26 No purse less than 700 will be offered offeredJockey Jockey W Milner and jockey F Horn who have been serving a threeday suspension resumed riding today todayMrs Mrs If J Kennedy purchased the mare Perigourdine and will send her to Virginia to be bred to Trap Rock
