INAUGURAL FEATURE Fine Field Expected for Clark Handicap to Be Run May 12 Prominent Stables Are Repre ¬ sented Ext erminat or and Whiskaway Among Entries LOU1SVHJLE Ky March 31 Although the entries for the Clark Handicap will not be released until April 1 the list of nomina ¬ tions which is now being compiled in the Kentucky Jockey Clubs offices reveals that a large field of exceptional ability will face the starter on the opening day May 12 for this rich stake The Clark Handicap has been especially selected for the opening day be ¬ cause it will bring together the leading handi ¬ cap horses of the country besides giving the threeyearolds a chance for a race at one and oneeighth miles in preparation for the Derby There is 510000 added to this stake and it is well worth winning because it 3s as old as Churchill Downs and many of the great horses of the turf have worn its blue ribbon as a badge of honor honorIn In other years the Clark Handicap was planned to again bring together the Derby horses as it was run after that event but this year because the Derby will not be run until May 19 the Clark Handicap has been moved up to the opening day but it will lose none of its value or interest by reason of the change The entries so far tabulated read like a list of candidates for the Suburban Handicap for it comprises many of the stars of last years handicap division East and West E R Bradley will have seven entries Harry Payne Whitney five Montfort Jones five Mrs Payne Whitney six II F Sin ¬ clair three and E F Simms three The grand old Exterminator the wonder horse or the turf and an overwhelming favorite in Kentucky as elsewhere is entered C W Clark will have a try with the 125000 Whisk away and every other good handicap horse in the West will go for the prize prizeThe The following are the entries for the Clark HandicapAllen Handicap Allen It Calcutta ch c 3 l y Colin Jammn Allen 3 U Muliiber blk p li by Vulcain Tapiolu Uakcr A Precious Lnla b f 4 by
