MONTREAL TRACK SCHEDULE Arrangements Made by Quebec QuebecRacing Racing Associations to Hold HoldSpring Spring Meetings TORONTO Ont March 31 The racing associations of Quebec have been granted some relief by the Quebec provincial govern ¬ ment from the proposed tax of 12 V per cent to be deducted from the mutuels this year Preparations are now being made for tho opening of the racing season at Montreal Following a meeting of the Quebec Breeders Association held at Montreal announcement was made that the local tracks will open in May with Maisonncuve Park the scene of ac ¬ tivity from May 5 to May 12 and Mount Royal will race from May 19 to May 26 Although no official announcement has been made it is likely that the Dorval and Blue Bonnets meetings will follow that at Mount lloyal lloyalIt It is said that the Woodbine Park meeting will commence May 19 for the usual seven days to be followed immediately by Thorn cliffe Eark May 28 to June 4 Dufferin Park opens Juno C and continues to June Il IlAlthough Although the entries to the Kings Plate the openingday feature at Woodbine do not close until Monday there is an abundance of material available for the big race which is exclusively for provincebred horses at one and a quarter miles As usual the race will likely attract about fifty or more entries which assures a big field for tho oldestab ¬ lished race raceA A meeting of the Canadian Racing Associa ¬ tions will be held shortly when dates for the tracks comprising this circuit will be allotted Owing to the excessive taxation of 7ilOO daily and 5 per cent of the mutuel receipts some of the tracks it is said will remain closed unless given some relief by the On ¬ tario government From the present outlook conditions are not very promising in this respect
